Help During Consignor Drop Off Days
Volunteers who help during drop off days facilitate getting items checked into the Curtain Call system and placed on the sales floor. In many cases, help is needed to tag items and insure that tags are securely fastened to items for sale. This is a good job for those with mobility issues. If you are looking to get your 10,000 steps in, after items are cleared for placement on the sales floor (this is determined by one of the three Curtain Call partners), items are placed in designated areas of the store; for example, lamps go to the lamp section, kitchen items to the kitchen area, etc.
Help Staging Vignettes
After all items have been dropped off and entered into the Curtain Call system, the fun of staging begins. Curtain Call is a vignette style sale, meaning that items for sale are organized to create different rooms and different looks. It’s also the time when we organize, grouping like items together, in display cases and on tables, in an effort to showcase each item for sale in the best light possible. If you like to decorate, we welcome your input.
Helping During the Sale
Help is needed during the sale to help make our customers’ shopping experience the best it can be. Help can take many forms, but includes relieving customers of items they wish to purchase by placing them in our hold area. This job requires walking, as items are collected from customers all around the store and delivered to the hold area.
Many customers also request help with measuring or are just looking for an opinion about what “goes together.” We need assistance at our counters to show sterling and designer handbags that are kept under glass. This is a good job for those who do not want to be on their feet all day.
The most important skills needed during sale days are a smiling face and a willingness to help.
Help During Pick Up
Some consignors will pick up their unsold items that they do not wish to donate. There is a designated day for this. Volunteers who help during this part of the sale will help locate those consignor items. We will also have volunteers check items being removed from the store to insure that they belong to the consignor.
